WebNet Consultancy has just completed Project Management and consultancy work for E-way® On-line.
E-way® On-line allows E-way® customers to access
information using an Internet Self-Service Application.
With little promotion, 215 customers registered to use the application
in its first 36 hours of operation! The work was well within its budget.
Seven proposals from different suppliers were assessed. Mr Hammond is
particularly proud of the financial, security and risk analyses that he
performed. The back end accounts system is fundamental to the operation
of E-way and its call centre. The proposal used bank-like security for
the accounts system so that any Internet based problem or hacking attempt
could not directly affect the accounts system.
Spam the “Killer” Application
The Australian Communications Authority (ACA) became Australia’s spam watchdog following legislation in Federal Parliament on 12 December 2003.
The legislation bans the sending of unsolicited commercial electronic messages including email and SMS. It also bans harvesting of email addresses.
Commercial electronic messages can only be able to be sent with the consent of the recipient, they must contain information about the originator and must incorporate an ‘unsubscribe’ facility. There are some exceptions, such as non- commercial organisations, including political, religious or charitable organisations, and factual material.
How we defeat Spam
WebNet consultancy found that up to 85% of its e-mail was spam on some days with a high percentage of e-mail containing viruses. We wanted to be free to focus on our core business. So we investigated a managed anti-spam service. Managed anti-spam systems route an organisation’s email through an off-site filtering service. We were so impressed with "SecurenceMail", a managed anti-spam service from US Internet's Securence division, that we became a sales agent. SecurenceMail, suitable for corporate customers, uses the latest in spam blocking technology to prevent up to 98% of incoming spam from reaching users.
To use it, you need only to have your Internet Service Provider (ISP) change your domain mail (MX) record to point to US Internet. No changes are required to your server or service provider because your e-mail is relayed back to you. You change nothing else at all unless you create a mailbox to review the spam that is caught.
And your information is completely secure. A detailed security statement and security policies are available. Your information is so secure that even a US bank (Coldwell Banker) and the US market's third largest home shopping network (ShopNBC) use it.
As well as scanning for viruses, it also reduces downloads. By removing spam, you no longer have to pay to download it. It also provides a backup if your e-mail or your ISP's e-mail system fails as US firms found in the recent blackouts.
We offer a free 30 day trial. Pricing and other details can be found at SecurenceMail.
